Frequently asked questions
How SpotShare works for drivers and hosts in Romania: search, booking, payments, access, and support.
A: SpotShare is a marketplace that helps ease the shortage of parking by connecting drivers with people who have a legal, bookable space sitting empty. Owners earn money when someone books their spot.
A: Anyone who needs a parking space can search and book. Anyone who can offer a spot for at least one continuous hour can list it. Today we focus on everyday car parking where demand is highest.
A: The service is designed for Romania’s legal framework today. We are actively working to support additional European Union requirements so we can grow responsibly across the EU.
A: Spots are stored with map coordinates. You search by area or zone; we show nearby listings with approximate distance from your search—not full identifying details. After you complete payment, you receive the instructions and information you need to park.
A: No in-person handover. Access is self-service: photo instructions when the host adds them, and an access code only when the host chooses to include it in the listing description.
A: You choose start and end times in one-hour steps, for up to seven consecutive days per reservation. When you need more time, book again for the same spot from where your current stay ends—subject to availability.
A: Whether you need a quick stop or a full week away, you can keep one spot for anywhere from a single hour up to seven full days—an entire week—on one uninterrupted booking. Pick your start and end times in one-hour steps within that window. If your plans run longer, simply reserve the same spot again once your booking ends, whenever it is still available.
A: There is no staff check-in. You pay for the parking duration you choose (for example, one hour on the clock). If your booking starts right now, we add five minutes on top of that paid time so you can reach the spot and park—those minutes are not taken out of what you purchased. If you book for a later start time, there is no extra buffer: we assume you will already be at the spot when your booked window begins.
You are responsible for checking out on time at the end of your booked parking period. If you repeatedly stay well beyond it, we may notify you and suspend your account for breaking the rules.
A: Listings are priced in Romanian leu (RON) today; more currencies are planned. SpotShare keeps a 2% platform fee by deducting it from the host payout (the owner is paid after that fee). PayU processes payments and applies its own processing fees as well; what the host receives follows PayU and SpotShare payout rules.
A: Payouts run through PayU after a completed booking flow. The 2% SpotShare fee and PayU processing costs are taken out before funds reach the host, as described above.
A: Use in-app support and pick the topic that matches your case. For a change-of-mind refund with no underlying incident, or to be moved to an alternative spot from the moment your booking begins, you need to open a ticket within the first 30 minutes after the booking start time. Inside that window we can usually run automated flows for a full refund or a swap.
You can still report other problems at any time; refunds or other remedies depend on the facts and our policies, and may require manual review.
After those 30 minutes you have already had access to the spot for half an hour, so the same fast, automated full-refund path no longer applies. A support agent will review what happened in detail; that can take longer and an instant full refund is not guaranteed. In-app support still aims to respond as quickly as possible at any hour, and automated guidance can help with common parking issues that are not the same as a no-fault refund.
A: We use vehicle registration plates as part of verification and operating the service, together with the other data described in our Privacy Policy.
A: No. SpotShare is a marketplace, not an insurer. Drivers and hosts remain responsible for their own insurance and for complying with local law.
A: A standard account can list up to three active spots. If you manage more locations—for example as a business—contact our business team through the website. Hosts control availability with a rental calendar (specific hours on specific days).
SpotShare is a marketplace: we do not visit and approve every space in person. Each host is responsible that their listing is accurate and allowed under law and any building or land rules. If support finds a listing is not in line with our legal notices or policies, we will contact the host to correct it. Fake or misleading listings can lead to suspension.
A: Only share what the app truly needs. For your own safety, never send passwords, full card numbers, or other sensitive secrets in chat or email. Legitimate SpotShare support will not ask you for those outside the normal, secure payment fields inside the app.
